In this chapter, we covered IPv6 in somewhat detail starting with an introduction and header format. We covered various types of IPv6 addresses including unicast and multicast addresses. We also covered the configuration and verification of these different types of addresses.
We also introduced basic IPv6 packet forwarding and its configuration. IPv6 dynamic routing protocols including EIGRPv6 and OSPFv6 were introduced along with the relevant configuration, verification, and troubleshooting commands.
There was special focus on drawing similarities between IPv6 protocols and their IPv4 counterparts in order to make it easier to understand details that you already know from you studies of IPv4 protocols.
